Fable takes place in the fictional world of Albion. Players assume the role of an orphaned boy who realizes his dream of becoming a hero. The choices players make in the game affect the perception and reaction to their Hero by the characters of Albion, and change the Hero's appearance to mirror what good or evil deeds the Hero has performed. In addition to undertaking quests to learn what happened to the Hero's family, players can engage in optional quests and pursuits such as trading, romance, and theft.
The Lost Chapters features all the content found in the original Fable, as well as additional new content such as new monsters, weapons, alignment based spells, items, armor, towns, buildings, and expressions, as well as the ability to give children objects. The story receives further augmentation in the form of nine new areas and sixteen additional quests. Characters such as Briar Rose and Scythe, who played only minor roles in the original game, are now given more importance and are included in certain main and side quests. Other character-based augmentations include the antagonist, Jack of Blades' voice sounding deeper, harsher and more demonic; or being able to uncover (and resolve) the murder mystery behind Lady Grey's sister.

Well, I was not able to get this to work on the new Mac Mini (10.5.6 Core2 2.0Ghz, 2GB ram, GeForce 9400 256MB)

The game runs, but all the text is just blocks. (Like a font error or something.)

I'll keep seeding for those that can get it to work!

I have the same issue with the blocks, but the same thing happens with a copy I bought. For some reason I was hoping the disk was jacked, but nope, seems to be something with the OS. I emailed Feral they said they were looking into it and that there were a lot of reports of this coming in over the last two weeks.

when i went to use the nodvd crack it said it patched successfully everything but 1 file. and when i open the program the screen goes black then it terminates and a box appears that says the program ended unexpectedly. anyone else have this issue?

You must have failed to notice the other folders. They contain language packs. So if you don't speak e.g. English, you can install Spanish, German etc..

Now, I don't believe they would take up Gigs of space... So the 'missing' space is probably just disc filling.

installed on my 1.76 ghz PB G4 - OS 10.5.6

Ran the installer and received the message about one file not properly patching. Proceeded and game played fine for 2 hours.

After closing down and trying to restart the game is keeps "quitting unexpectedly".

tried repatching and get "cannot patch this file" note.

Tried the other suggestions regarding foler permissions, etc. but still stuck

any other suggestions?

think I solved my problem -
used the Pseudo program mentioned in these comments on page 1 or 2.

Drag the actual game app to run from pseudo (with root permissions) and now runs fine. Lost prior saved game, but only had about 1 hour in game.

On MacBook there is the same problem as Jaylinnn describes -- blocky text that requires the patch to fix.

You can install the feral patch (http://support.feralinteractive.com/?mod_id=patches&gamename=fable) by opening the package : contents : packages : fableInstallerProject.pkg.

However, this re-enables the DVD check (once version 1.01). Is there a work-around?

what you do is yo copy the .toast file to your desktop and you label it a .dmg and you can open it like normal im on leopard 10.5.7 so i dont know if it works on older mac osx systems

Nevermind, I tried the patch that came with it and it worked perfectly. But there is another problem - I can't right-click! Usually either Cmd+Click works or Ctrl+Click, but now I can only say yes to things. Is there any way to get around this and either assign a different key to say no (not in the control customization menu) or somehow fool the game into thinking that I'm right-clicking? Please help, I really want to be good and now I have to agree to let the cheating husband get away with cheating...

I thought this was gonna work beautifully, however when I get to the part of Apprentice training, just before I'm allowed to use the Bow... The game freezes and quits. it is always the exact same spot.

Any ideas?

Dark6--> I was having the same problem as you! I patched everything, ran psuedo, did what I was supposed to. Yet whenever I opened up the app the screen went black for a moment and instead of playing a mindless video game I was stuck staring at the desktop like an office worker.

BUT LO! I figured out the problem! (At least my problem.)

Says the torrent description: "This game does NOT support GMA Graphic cards with shared RAM." And checking out my hardware, I realize, indeed--I do have a GMA graphic card with shared RAM. So there you go. I should read the torrent description a tad more carefully next time.

Ok, I'm back. I got the game working fine on my old computer (with graphics turned way down, it was an old computer) but I got a new computer (White unibody macbook, 2.26 Intel 4 GB RAM, 500 GB, 10.6) and now the game only launches about 1/30 times. usually it opens, then closes again immediately with a "Fable - The Lost Chapters has unexpectedly quit" message. About 1/10 times it launches, and i can hear the sounds but the screen is black and I have to quit. Once, it launched upside down for about 2 seconds then went black and crashed.

Any tips? Is it a 10.6 problem? I was running 10.4 on my old computer. Is it an Intel VS PPC problem? My old computer was PPC. I'm downloading the patch now and i'm gonna patch it to 1.0.1 to see if that fixes anything. I'm going to patch a copy of the game, not the original just in case the patch fucks up my crack. Finally, I tried launching the game through Pseudo, because I saw people mention it here, and this makes it work about 1/10 times vs 1/30, but it's also looking for the save games in the Admin user folder, so it doesn't have any of my old saves. Since this is already my 3rd playthrough, I don't want to have to get all the way back to where I was.

Anyone else have this/similar problem & know a fix? My graphics card is Nvidia btw.

I may have fixed the problem. I turned off the "Pause iTunes when Fable - The Lost Chapters is launched" option, and the game has now launched perfectly 3/3 times. It is possible that the game had some integration issues with the newer version of iTunes. Anyway, if I start having the problem again I will comment here.

Also: this is still version 1.0 of the game. When I tried to patch the game, it told me to put in the DVD. I mounted both of the disk images I had downloaded from here with Toast, and the patcher gave me the same message. Then I tried the iTunes option on the launch menu and the game appears to be fixed. Just saying, I'm still using 1.0, in case anyone has the same problem as me.

Several issues with your statement:

1. That is not possible. At all. What you are downloading is the disk image that opens to an installer that installs the game. Then you would have to go inside your game folder to find the file you want. Once again, to get that file you need to go "Disk Image->Mounted Disk->Installer->Installed Game->File" That's a lot of steps that don't work unless you download the whole disk image.

2. Even if you could pick one specific file so far into the game's installation, that's not a piratebay issue. If you're downloading something like a bunch of music, a good bittorent client will allow you to pick which files you want to download and which ones you want to leave out. If you are using something like Vuze, which is built for the torrenter who doesn't want to deal with that stuff, that file selector is not enabled by default. However, if you are using something slightly more advanced (like Transmission), every time you open a torrent, you will get options as to what parts you want to download.

i can specify now, it skips a file in the patching process and then I can run it but it's a complete black screen, not errors or exits, sound plays and keeps running. That is all.
- I do not have a GMA graphic card
- I do meet the requirements
- I installed the game and ran the patch, nothing more

had the same problem with the crack - SHA1 Error

first tried opening the game it asked for a cd.
closed it and reopened and it went to the black screen and insta quit.

turned off the pause itunes check mark in startup menu and it loads fine.

Powerbook G4 PPC 10.5.8 with 1.33 Ghz (woo! 5FPS!!). Non GMA graphics card.
I saw a few other powerbook and/or PPC posters here, so I hope this helps someone out.
When installing I got the same error (SHA1) as most, but gameplay worked fine with the patch. However, when I tried to reopen the game, it wouldn't load. I tried Pseudo, and that worked once (it made me start a new game), though it soon after crashed and Pseudo would not open F:TLC anymore. In fact, when I try to open Fable with Pseudo, it doesn't even give me a "crashed" or "failed to open" message; the icon just blinks for a bit and fades.
While stumped I opened Disk Utility to arbitrarily repair permissions on my computer. After doing that - maybe a day had passed - I attempted to open Fable. What do you know: it worked! But, once I'd quit, it wouldn't reopen. I repaired permissions, and the problem was (yet again) temporarily solved. I've done this tedious activity five times now (strong motivation to play the game for long periods of time) and it usually works. When it doesn't, I restart, repair permissions, kill time, until the game comes around. But it works! I hope this is helpful for all you PPCers/anyone else out there.

@tallands: The patch works perfectly on OSX 10.6.7, simply mount the dmg file, run the patch, and drag and drop the Fables application onto the patch.

Hi im running a PPC g5 mac, i installed fable ran the patch everything seemed sweet. i opened the new fable icon in my games folder and it came up with the display settings box. so i hit play and it does nothing for a moment then crashs saying it unexpectedly quit. any idea whats wrong?

On my iMac at first it would crash immediately after launching but after doing some software updates (I was at 10.4.1) game runs flawlessly! Will continue to see as long as I can
